Old Shop

Population: 275 (1996)
241 (1986)

Located along a bank on the west side of Dildo Arm, at the bottom of Trinity Bay is the community of Old Shop. Tradition tells of the name coming from "old chop", because it was used for cutting ships timbers by the people of Trinity during the winter.

After the collapse of the fishery in the 1920's, most of the residents have found employment outside the community.

Many people of Spreadeagle relocated to Old Shop increasing the population. Family names included Cooper, Hillier, Reid, and Smith.
