small fishing community located to the north of Carbonear. 1700's - Estimated period of time when Perry's Cove was probably settled. 1791 - John King was a resident and shares the most common family name of others 200 years later. Family names of other early settlers include: Budden, Butt, Kelloway and Swain. 1846 - A church and school were built. 1857 - First time population (186) was recorded separate from nearby Salmon Cove. |
