Located between Clarke's Beach and Cupids is the community of South River. The community takes its name from a river, which flows through a broad valley into a large harbour pond south of Clarke's Beach (known as Southern Gut).

Within the incorporated community of South River are the areas known as
" The Gut", "Salmon Cove" and "Springfield".
