1965-68 : Towers and Parking Garages - continued

DeLeuw, Cather plan (1968) : short-term proposed road layout superimposed over an alternative version of Murray & Murray
Carleton University Library: Special Collections and Archives.

The Murray & Murray plan (1968) represents here a single, coherent scheme. In fact there are inconsistencies from one report to another which represent variations of an expressed conceptual vision. For example, other proposals show parking garages which are not built over the railway tracks, as shown in illustration to the left.

It illustrates the Deleuw, Cather plan (1968), prepared to show proposed site services and roads. In 1968 one of the Murray & Murray reports stated road circulation followed a plan prepared by Deleuw, Cather (see "Carleton University east campus master plan preliminary report", [1968]). At the same time, it would appear DeLeuw, Cather based building locations for their proposed campus plan on examples of master plans. These two concepts evolved together over time and were developed co-operatively.
