Margison Plan (1962) : short-term propsed site plan of road layouts

While deliberation of the "master plan search" site sub-committee may have influenced future development of the site by affecting the process of implementation, the graphically expressed vision seems to have had little impact on physical configuration of the campus site.

One example of the "master plan search" representation being used in the process is found in a study of the road system to and within the campus. That study, by A.D. Margison & Associates, 25 April 1962, is one of the first examples of a researched master plan of the campus. It contains citations of consulted sources and other useful references. Still, the Margison plan (1962), upper right image, shows nothing of substance which had not been delineated eight years earlier by the Architectural Associates for Carleton (University). The report's list of consulted plans include none of the work by the Architectural Associates, including omission of the approved plan.
