Students will:

  • continue searching on the Internet for possible candidates that reflect the criteria and definitions created in Lesson 1 and 2;
  • continue using Canada's Digital Collections website;
  • complete and submit Project Worksheet 4 ;
  • continue development of a Canadian Heroes Folder to monitor their progress.

Materials:

Preparation:

  1. Set computers for the website http://collections.ic.gc.ca
  2. Have your students click on History, you'll find a wealth of resources including, but not limited to:
    • Canada's Prime Ministers (1867-1996)
    • Canadian Portraits
    • Canadian Veterans Recollect
    • Heroes of Lore and Yore: Canadian Heroes in Fact and Fiction
    • Herstory
    • High Flyers: Canadian Women in Aviation
    • Hot Docs: Heroes of Medicine: The Canadian Medical
    • Hall of Fame
    • Recipients of the Order of Canada

Evaluation Opportunities:

  1. Teacher observation of student progress on the Internet.
  2. Individual submissions of Project Worksheet 4.
