Color varies intensely. Pale to deep cornflower-blue, pink to pale violet, white or colorless.; some crystals form a white outer edge with a deep blue center.
Luster dull to vitreous or silky (like the surface of piece of silk material).
Streak none.
Distinguishing features the deep blue color and the gradual or sharp zoning of colors.
Uses gemstones have been cut from this rare mineral.
