Plast in Hamilton, Ontario
Plast members arrived from Europe and settled in Hamilton in 1948. In November, 1948, the first Plast group was established with 22 members and included senior scouts and youth. Membership grew and in 1955 the Plast group became a Stanytsia. During 1948-1959 the Plast members met in the Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Church and from 1959 to 1969 in the facilities of the Ukrainian National Federation (UNF) Branch in Hamilton. Plast members held their outdoor activities at a local farm, Camp Kiev in Oakville, Camp UNF in Acton, Camp Myrnam in Dunville, in various parks and at the Plast Camp Novyi Sokil.

In 1957 the camp was held near Durham, Ontario with 86 participants. In 1958-1965 Hamilton held its own camps and later they were held in cooperation with the St. Catherines Plast group at Camp Myrnam.

By 1966 Plast members participated in camps and activities across Ontario and Quebec. Plast members travelled to Ukrainian events in Winnipeg, Edmonton and Washington. Membership varied and in some years Plast members also assisted the Plast group in St. Catherines by providing instructors. In other years, there was a lack of instructors and some were invited from Toronto.

In 1983, the flag of the Hamilton Branch, the 18th kurin in honour of Olha Basarab was unveiled. Plast in Hamilton did not have its own building and their activities were held in the Holy Spirit Church. Some joint activities were held with SUM - Ukrainian Youth Association. Plast members also took part in the dance group, Chayka and in activities organized by the Ukrainian Canadian Congress. Plast continued to cooperate in joint activities with Plast in Toronto and St. Catherines.

In 1996 there were 32 members most from Hamilton and others from the surrounding areas. Members continue to participate in local, regional and national activities organized by Plast. Funds are raised for charitable causes, to assist other Plast Branches and the Ukrainian community. In May, 1999, the 50th anniversary celebrations were held in Hamilton and members and former members attended from across Canada.
