The surfaces of the Roedde House are never flat. One charming aspect of the house is the variety of different types of siding.

Fishscale Shingling
Fishscale shingling is a type of siding that changes the look..

Each of these use different shapes, different sizes, and different angles to create effects that make the house interesting in itself. Clapboard siding is used on the sides of the house, while a fish scale pattern can be seen in the shingle of the gables.

Clapboard

Clapboard siding is overlapping, wedge shaped boards forming a textured covering.

From this view you can see that the building has bays, and many bay windows. The porches, with their many posts and spindles, fill the corners and wrap around the house. You can also see some of the balconies and a clear view of the cupola.
