Students practiced sketching, painting, charcoal and decorating
china in their art classes. Sister Osithe, one of the Sisters at
St. Ann's, taught and produced her own art. She arrived at St. Ann's
in 1897 and taught for forty years. There are many pieces of her
art that can be viewed today - click here

Illustrate
a Poem
Write your
own poem, or use a famous poem written by someone else (famous
poets and their poems). Neatly print your poem on paper (or
use calligraphy if you know how), and decorate your poem by coloring,
painting or drawing around it. Here's an example from a student
at St Ann's Academy - check
it out here.
Create
Geometric Artwork
Begin by using
pencil to draw a box on a sheet of paper. Then, divide the box into
4 equal parts. Create a symmetrical design (all four sections of
your box are identical). Fill your design in with colors, using
paint, crayons, or coloring pencils. Here
are some examples of designs - which one is your favorite?
Be
A Still-Life Artist
Draw or paint
something from nature that you like - a tree, your pet dog, an apple,
even your little brother. Try using different mediums, like pencil,
charcoal, watercolors or pencil crayons and see which ones you like
best. See some examples here.
Creative
Cover
Create your
own personal cover, for your artbook, or for a memory book. Try
using calligraphy, and borders if you wish. Use gold pens to add
flare to your designs. Check out this one - click here.
Jigsaw Puzzle
a) Choose a colored picture that you like in a magazine or create
your own picture.
b) Glue your picture on a thin cardboard. Make sure the cardboard
and the picture are even. Then, turn the whole thing face down.
c) On the back of your picture, draw about ten pieces of jigsaw
(without leaving any space) with your pencil
d) Carefully cut out the pieces of your puzzle
e) Mix them up. Now turn them over on the right side and put the
pieces together.
