Prime Minister Jean Chrétien today announced the following
changes in the Public Service:
1. Mel Cappe, currently Deputy Minister of the Environment, becomes
Deputy Minister of Human Resources Development and concurrently
Deputy Minister of Labour, and
2. Jean-Jacques Noreau, currently Deputy Minister of Human Resources
Development and concurrently Deputy Minister of Labour, becomes
Special Advisor to the Minister of Human Resources Development.
This autumn, Mr. Noreau will be leaving the Public Service to
take up a senior position at the Organization for Economic Cooperation
and Development in Paris.
These appointments are effective immediately.
