- As part of its Action Plan on Safety and Environmental Protection, the NEB is committed to providing additional information to Canadians on the NEB and its regulatory framework. Flowing out of the NEB goals for the regulation of pipelines and energy development are the NEB’s management and protection compliance programs. The programs include Integrity Compliance, Emergency Management Compliance, Damage Prevention Compliance, Security Compliance, and Environmental Protection Compliance.
A risk-informed approach to monitoring compliance helps the NEB to further understand and assess risk to public and worker safety, and effective methods for environmental protection. In addition, it facilitates efficient use of NEB resources.
For additional details regarding a specific / complex issue, a high-level chart of responsibilities for each program is available. The chart also shows the name and telephone number for the Operations Business Unit Leader.
