Manager, Mr. C.M. MacGregor. A contract was needed for the construction of the tailrace which included the channel protection and part of the rock excavation. Rock had to be removed and a new path for the river had to be dug out of the earth.

Ontario Hydro was very cautious in the construction of this dam due to the types of soil and the high ground water level. As a result, during the one and a half year period of working, no serious problems occurred.

Besides a few minor problems with rock removal, construction was carried out smoothly, on time and without delay. Completion cost was $27 503 000, which turned out to be $1 381 000 less than the estimated cost.
