Baccalieu Trail Heritage Corporation

Some of the Corporation's goals are:

1. To identify, protect, enhance and develop marketable local heritage resources and other supporting tourism attractions in the region;

2. To identify an approach to a public awareness program that will enhance local knowledge of our region's rich heritage, and provide residents with the means by which to influence the direction of tourism development in keeping with local views and aspirations;

3. To recommend specific services and activities that will enhance tourism potential and economic benefits for local residents and businessess. Such community based initiatives breathe new life into the economy and the environment;
4. To preserve and protect all historical resources, artifacts and the environment in the region;

5. To create an awareness, locally and elsewhere, of the unique heritage of the area. Efforts have especially been made by residents to preserve the special character of the area and its rich seafaring traditions;

6. To take a leading role in presenting the views of the region on issues relating to the development of its historical resources. All levels of government are frequently lobbied on issues relevant to the Corporation;

7. To promote the region through appropriate publicity, promotions and publications.
