New Perlican

A fishing community on the south side of Trinity Bay, north of Heart's Content.

New Perlican is first mentioned in a letter written by Thomas Rowley who was then living at Cupids. Rowley planned to move to New Perlican and set up a plantation but whether he did or not we do not know.

New Perlican was settled by at least 1675 when Willian Hefford and his family are first mentioned as living there. Other early family names include, Gordon, Hammond, Pitt, Tilly, and Shipp. The Hefford family continues on in New Perlican to this day.
