Incorporated: 1974

Located about 6 km northeast of Carbonear. The open cove has a long, sandy beach, and there has been recent renovations done to the area making it a beautiful place to visit.

In recent years, gazabo's, picnic tables, annual festivals, and a hiking trail with a spectacular view have made "the sands" (local nick name) a beautiful historic beach.

Agriculture and the shore fishery were the main community activities.

A nearby pond offers shelter in bad weather for small boats. The site of an abandoned neighbourhood known as "Marshall's Folly" is located in the form of a meadow the outskirts of the cove.
