Sibley's Cove

Population: 426 (1996) includes Brownsdale and Lead Cove
187 (1991)

Located about 10km's southwest of Old Perlican, on the south side of Trinity Bay, is the fishing community of Sibley's Cove. It is usually considered to include torquay (pronounced tarquay), a cluster of houses on the East End of the cove. It is believed that the cove was probably named after a migrating fisherman.

Permanent settlement of Sibley's Cove probably dates from the early 1800's.
