South Dildo

Population: 272 (1991)

Located at the head of Dildo Arm in Trinity Bay, is the unincorporated community of South Dildo. The community also includes the area known as Brazil's
(name of some of the first settled people).

At the turn of the twentieth century most men worked chiefly in lumbering but there was at least one schooner from South Dildo that was engaged in the Labrador fishery. Community had a population of 62, including 9 Salvation Army members. A small lobster factory had begun, and there was at least one full-time farmer.

Today, a museum is located in the community displaying artifacts from the sealing and whaling post at Dildo's Arm.
