Seaman Joseph L. Gallant
SEAMAN JOSEPH L. GALLANT

Seaman Joseph L. Gallant, son of Glorice and Basélice Gallant, served in the American Navy during World War II.


Pte. Joseph Normand Gallant, son of Thomas and Lucie Anne Gallant, enlisted in the P.E.I. Highlanders on April 29, 1941.

He served in the North Atlantic Area, the United Kingdom, the Central Mediterranean Area and Continental Europe.

While serving in Italy, his company was pinned down for 26 hours before a breakthrough could be achieved.

He received the 1939-1945 Star; France/Germany Star; the Italy Star and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp.

He was discharged on November 12, 1945.

CPL. JOSEPH (X.O.) GALLANT

Cpl. Joseph (X. O.) Gallant, son of Xavier Gallant and Émilienne Arsenault, served in the Canadian Army in Canada only, for approximately three years during the 2nd World War.

L/Cpl. Julien Edmond Gallant, son of Joseph Alexandre Gallant and Marie Rose Arsenault, enlisted in the army on April 21, 1942. After his basic training in Canada, he served in the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps in the United Kingdom.

He was discharged in January, 1946.

Pte. Léo J. Gallant
PTE. LÉO J. GALLANT

Pte. Léo J. Gallant, son of Glorice and Basélice Gallant, enlisted in the P. E. I. Highlanders on June 3, 1940. He served in Newfoundland and served overseas with the Cape Breton Highlanders. He was wounded in Italy in 1943 and returned to Canada in 1944.

He was discharged on June 15, 1945.


Pte. Léo M. Gallant, son of Stanley and Jacqueline Gallant, enlisted in the army in May, 1940.

He served with the P.E.I. Highlanders, the P.E.I. Light Horse and the Cape Breton Highlanders in Canada, Newfoundland, England, Italy, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany.

He was discharged in January, 1946.

Pte. Léo Joseph Gallant, son of Philibert and Marie Louise Gallant, enlisted in the Canadian Army on April 18, 1942.

He served in Canada, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe.

He received the 1939-1945 Star, France/Germany Star, the Defence Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp.

He was discharged on January 8, 1946.

Spr. Louis Gallant, son of Mathurin Gallant and Évangeline Arsenault, enlisted with the Royal Canadian Engineers on May 15, 1942. He served as an electrician in the United Kingdom.

He was discharged in February, 1946.

Cpl. Madeleine Gallant
CPL. MADELEINE GALLANT

Cpl. Madeleine Gallant, daughter of Nicholas and Nasalina Katarynych, served in the R.C.A.F. and was posted to Newfoundland in 1942.

Pte. Martin Gallant, son of Sylvain and Émérentienne Gallant, enlisted in the army in June, 1940.

He served with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders in Canada and overseas. He landed in France on D-Day (June 6, 1944), was taken prisoner shortly after and was killed by plane strafing while in transit aboard a prisoners' train.
