A growing international concern is electronic fraud and computer-related crime. Not only has technology made possible a host of new crimes, it has also opened new avenues in which traditional crimes (such as fraud) can flourish. Electronic money laundering is one example. The illegal electronic transfer of funds is challenging the legal system to develop new laws and adopt new strategies for coping with electronic crime.

Governments are working together to further the fight against e-crime. Its increasingly international scope and technological complexity have prompted several agencies to call for new resources and approaches to law enforcement. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Canadian Security Intelligence Service are working with other police forces and security services to meet the growing threat posed by computer-related crime.
