Official Languages Regulations

The Official Languages Regulations establish the use of either official language in communications with and services to the public. The Clerk of the Privy Council registered the Regulations on December 16, 1991.

These regulations were adopted pursuant to section 32Government site of the Official Languages Act, following a major consultation process, as provided for in sections 84, 85 and 86Government site  of the Act.

The Regulations set out the circumstances in which federal institutions are required to provide services in both official languages.
