" Discover the Heritage of the Baccalieu Trail "

Anderson's Cove
The Anderson's Cove site, located on the eastern side of the entrance to Dildo Arm, was discovered in 1993 when a 4000 year old Maritime Archaic Indian stone axe was found eroding from the bank above the beach. The Baccalieu Trail Heritage Corporation conducted a ten day survey of the site in 1995 and a four week excavation in 1996. While the site has been seriously disturbed through erosion, farming and sod removal, a number of Maritime Archaic artifacts were recovered and this evidence of Maritime Archaic Indian occupation has contributed to the larger picture of prehistoric and historic settlement in the Region.
