Several architectural changes have been made to the exterior of the "House of All Sorts" since it was first constructed in 1913. The original blueprints are on file with the City of Victoria but no other records exists documenting the renovations that have occurred over the past 87 years.

At the front of the house, an entranceway for the two upper suites have been added. A set of stairs, a small porch and a door, which make up the entrance, are located between the Lower East and West Flats. Before this addition, the upper suites entered the house through a back entrance. To view the details of these changes go to the floor plans section.

The exterior of the back of the house has undergone many changes. Comparing the archival photograph with the present day photograph, one can see the porch and back stairway leading to the second floor has been altered and the "garden room" removed completely. Two of the three large windows of the studio have been replaced by smaller windows. Further changes to the second floor exterior include the addition of a common doorway at the top of the back stairs and the removal of the original entrance to the Doll's House suite.

The back stairway leading to the Lower East Flat has been removed and the entranceway enclosed to create an additional room. The back door leading to the Lower West Flat has been removed and replaced with two windows. One of the two entrances to the basement including several windows have been removed. These changes are clearly defined in the floor plans section.

The exterior of the east side of the house has also undergone extensive renovations. On the exterior of the first floor, towards the back of the east side, a set of stairs and a doorway have been removed. This original door and back stairs have been converted into a small back room in the Lower East Flat. These changes are illustrated clearly in the floor plans section. A basement door and basement windows have been added to the east side of the exterior the house.

The exterior of the west side of the house has had only a few changes. An oval window in the attic has been replaced by a more standard square window. On the second floor, a small window has been removed and replaced by three larger windows. The first floor exterior remains the same. The basement has had the addition of two windows. For further details of the west side exterior changes please view the floor plans section.
