Most of the structural design of the Lower West Flat remains the same. The removal of the back entrance and stairway is the most significant change. Instead of an entrance, there are now two windows overlooking the back garden.

It is believed the door shown in the photograph below, is the door which Emily had installed to connect the two lower flats for her "People's Gallery. This door no longer connects to the Lower East Flat but

instead opens to the stairway leading to the second floor which was installed after Emily vacated the house.
