The huge, strong, and silent moose is by far the largest animal in Ontario. However, though they are quite strong, for the most of the year the moose is as gentle as a farm animal. It is only during mating season that the moose gets aggressive.

The moose is a common choice for many hunters, as is the deer. They are large animals that kind of look like a cow crossed with a deer, and enlarged. The males grow antlers each year until December, when they fall off at the end of mating season. The moose can be spotted in forests, but unlike deer, they prefer marshes, lakes, and swamps in the summer months. They are most commonly spotted in swamps and marshes, feasting on lily pads, and other aquatic plant life.
