Partnerships
Throughout its long history, the CCA has formed strategic partnerships within the cultural milieu and other parts of civil society, including the not-for-profit, government, academic and business sectors. These various collaborations are vital to expanding the scope of our activities, promoting the value of the arts to a broader audience and engaging new publics in the creative sector.
The CCA is currently involved in the following partnerships:
University of Ottawa
Since the fall of 2010, tin partnership with the University of Ottawa’s Centre for Continuing Education, Centre on Governance and School of Political Studies, the CCA presents a policy forum series entitled Thinking Culture, focusing on emerging issues and developments within the cultural sector.
Governor General‘s Performing Arts Foundation
The CCA is one of the founding members of the Governor General’s Performing Arts Foundation (GGPAAF) along with the Canada Council for the Arts, the National Film Board and the National Arts Centre. The GGPAAF is responsible for the coordinating the nomination and the selection process for the Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards, Canada’s foremost distinction for excellence in the performing arts. The CCA’s National Director currently sits on the Board of Directors of the GGPAAF.
Imagine Canada
The CCA’s National Director is a member of Imagine Canada’s National Engagement Strategy Advisory Committee. A unique initiative, the National Engagement Strategy seeks to strengthen the collective voice of charities and nonprofits in Canada, foster knowledge exchange and innovation among organizations of all sizes across the country, and create opportunities for networking and partnership building
National Advisory Committee on Cultural Statistics
Statistics Canada’s National Advisory Committee on Cultural Statistics (NACCS) was established in 1984 and serves as an important source of input on the development and improvement of statistical programs relevant to the Canadian cultural sector. The CCA’s National Director is the current the Chair of this committee
Cultural Human Resources Council
The CCA’s National Director acts as an observer for the Cultural Human Resources Council (CHRC). The CHRC brings together representatives of arts disciplines and cultural industries in the cultural sector to address the training and career development needs of employers and cultural workers including artists, technical staff, managers and all others engaged professionally in the sector.
Canadian Network for Arts and Learning
The CCA’s National Director is actively involved with Canadian Network for Arts and Learning as a member of the organization’s Board of Directors. The Network is a not-for-profit, inclusive and accessible organization intended to connect a broad range of governmental and non-governmental entities and individuals in joint initiatives to advance arts and learning.
Coalition for Cultural Diversity
Founded in 1998, the Coalition for Cultural Diversity represents the members, artists and creators, of 34 leading Canadian associations of cultural professionals who strongly believe in the legitimate right of governments to adopt policies favourable to the diversity of cultural expressions against the risk of cultural homogeneity in the context of globalization. The National Director of the CCA is a member of the Board of Directors of the Coalition.
