With the 2011 federal election set to take place on May 2, the political landscape in Canada will inevitably change. No matter the outcome, the arts, culture and heritage sector will be impacted in one way or another. As it now stands however, are the arts even a priority for the country’s leading political parties?

Join us as we seek to answer this question and more during a bilingual debate with local election candidates. We have invited candidates from the political parties currently represented in the House of Commons to share their vision for the future of the arts in Canada, and address topics related to policy development and funding models for the cultural sector. This presents an important opportunity for anyone with a vested interest in the arts and all citizens to be better informed on the issues before heading to the polls.

Confirmed participants to date include:*

Mauril Bélanger (Liberal candidate for Ottawa-Vanier)

Paul Dewar (NDP candidate for Ottawa Centre)

This forum will be free of charge. However, we ask that you support the CCA and provide a donation at the door to help fund the forum series.

* We are still awaiting confirmation from the Conservative Party. Continue to check our website for updated information.
