Deadline for Nominations for the CCA National Arts Awards: April 30th

Recently it was the Oscars, this week­end it’s the Junos, but please remem­ber that April 30, 2006 is the dead­line for nom­i­na­tions for the CCA’s National Arts Awards! We invite all CCA mem­bers to give seri­ous con­sid­er­a­tion to nom­i­nees for these awards. Nom­i­na­tion forms are avail­able in the Awards sec­tion of the CCA web­site or by con­tact­ing Paul Gali­peau at the CCA (paul.galipeau@ccarts.ca, 613–238-3561 ext. 20).

The awards will be pre­sented at a spe­cial recep­tion this Sep­tem­ber in Toronto.

The Diplôme d’honneur for out­stand­ing con­tri­bu­tions to the arts in Canada is pre­sented annu­ally to a Cana­dian who has made a sus­tained con­tri­bu­tion to the cul­tural life of the coun­try, whether through indi­vid­ual arts prac­tice, vol­un­teer activ­ity, men­tor­ing, patron­age, or other rec­og­nized sup­port. More than 70 vision­ar­ies and cre­ators of Canada’s rich cul­tural iden­tity, includ­ing Glenn Gould, Mau­reen For­rester, Oscar Peter­son, and last year’s win­ner, Roch Car­rier, have been rec­og­nized since its incep­tion.
2006 nom­i­na­tion form

The Keith Kelly Award for Cul­tural Lead­er­ship , awarded annu­ally since 1998, is given to a Cana­dian who has made an out­stand­ing con­tri­bu­tion to the arts through advo­cacy, pub­lic dis­course and lead­er­ship. The con­tri­bu­tion rec­og­nized by the Award may range from local to inter­na­tional in scope. Recip­i­ents of the award include Paul Siren, Gilles Lefeb­vre, Elise Paré-Tousignant and last year’s recip­i­ent, Nini Baird, C.M.

Inter­ested in join­ing the jury?
The CCA is cur­rently look­ing for two CCA mem­bers to become active in the selec­tion process of each award. Please send a state­ment of inter­est by Fri­day, April 21, 2006 to Paul Gali­peau at the CCA (paul.galipeau@ccarts.ca, 613–238-3561 ext. 20).
