The federal election campaign is now in full swing and the CCA is on the case. If you are interested in the promotion and protection of the arts and cultural sector in Canada,keep an eye on your email and take action!! In the course of the next several weeks, this is what you can expect to see from the CCA election desk:
· a profile of how each federal party fared in the last Parliament, what was achieved, what wasn’t and what is promised for the future,
· key issues for the cultural sector from the vantage point of the CCA,
· an analysis of the culture platforms of each federal party,
· a “door-step” tool to help you when a candidate comes calling to your door, or when attending an all candidates meeting,
· a full disclosure of the federal parties answers to questions on culture developed by the CCA,
· a post-campaign analysis of what the returns may mean for the arts and cultural industries
Of course, you can also expect to receive bulletins and updates on issues as they present themselvesthroughout the federal election campaign. The CCA is a non-partisan organization and we will honour this status while providing our membersand the cultural sector with the most information we can garner on issues that effect artists, creators,arts organizations and the cultural industries. We will present party platforms in their full uneditedform, and we will also share any feedback we receive from political parties on the coverage of thecampaign by the CCA.
The CCA also encourages its members to send potential questions for the televised leaders’ debates.Any questions that you or your organization would like the party leaders to answer during thedebates should be forwarded to question@electiondebate.ca; it would be appreciated if you couldshare your questions with us info@ccarts.ca. The CCA will endeavour to seek answers from theparties directly and we will share such responses with you once we receive them.
The CCA believes that an election is an important moment in our national life. It is our intention toprovide you with the most information we can gather to help you make an informed and responsiblechoice on January 23, 2006.
