The Cana­dian Con­fer­ence of the Arts (CCA) is call­ing on its mem­bers to present nom­i­na­tions for its 2009 National Arts Awards.

The CCA Awards are pre­sented annu­ally to mem­bers of Canada’s cul­tural com­mu­nity who have made sig­nif­i­cant con­tri­bu­tions to the spirit and vital­ity of the arts and cul­ture in this country.

With so many wor­thy indi­vid­u­als nation­wide, we encour­age all CCA mem­bers to put forth nom­i­nees. Nom­i­na­tion forms are avail­able on the awards sec­tion of the CCA web­site or by con­tact­ing Megan Forsythe at the CCA (613–238-3561 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              613–238-3561      end_of_the_skype_highlighting ext. 18).  Act now as the dead­line for nom­i­na­tions is Feb­ru­ary 25, 2010!

The Diplôme d’honneur for out­stand­ing con­tri­bu­tions to the arts in Canada is pre­sented annu­ally to a Cana­dian who has made a sus­tained con­tri­bu­tion to the cul­tural life of the coun­try, whether through indi­vid­ual arts prac­tice, vol­un­teer activ­ity, men­tor­ing, patron­age or other rec­og­nized sup­port. More than 70 vision­ar­ies and cre­ators of Canada’s rich cul­tural iden­tity, includ­ing Glenn Gould, Joan Chalmers, Oscar Peter­son, Joe Fafard and last year’s win­ner, Allan King, O.C. have been rec­og­nized since its inception.


2009 nom­i­na­tion form

The Keith Kelly Award for Cul­tural Lead­er­ship, awarded annu­ally since 1998, is given to a Cana­dian who has made an out­stand­ing con­tri­bu­tion to the arts through advo­cacy, pub­lic dis­course and lead­er­ship. The con­tri­bu­tion rec­og­nized by the Award may range from local to inter­na­tional in scope. Recip­i­ents of the award include Paul Siren, Gilles Lefeb­vre, Pat Durr, Garry Neil and last year’s recip­i­ent, Simon Brault, O.C.


2009 nom­i­na­tion form

The Awards Cer­e­mony will take place in Ottawa dur­ing the CCA’s National Pol­icy Con­fer­ence in late Sep­tem­ber, 2010.

This year marks the 65th anniver­sary of the Cana­dian Con­fer­ence of the Arts: help us cel­e­brate by putting for­ward great names for the awards!
