Special Budget Edition: A First Look at the Federal Budget
We are very proud to present this special federal budget edition. Our in depth budget analysis will be published in a few weeks when the Heritage Minister publishes the estimates and report on plans and priorities. Normally the government announces the plans and priorities before the federal budget drops, but not this year. Specific impacts are beginning to emerge as to which programs are being maintained, but there is no guarantee that priorities will remain the same. Several signs are already visible; others will accumulate over the weeks and months.

Imagine Canada has published a release discussing the impacts of the budget on registered charities. Changes announced in budget included new requirements for reporting political activity to increase transparency. Featured Member
Every month, the CCA profiles a different member. Our featured member this month is Erika Beatty, Symphony Nova Scotia’s CEO, and recipient of the Canada Council for the Arts’ 2012 John Hobday Award in Arts Management (Mentorship). The award honours excellence in arts management with a $10,000 grant to allow the recipient to participate in professional development programs and be mentored by another arts administrator. “I can’t express how honoured, humbled, and excited I am,” says Erika.
