Special Budget Edition: A First Look at the Federal Budget

We are very proud to present this special federal budget edition. Our in depth budget analysis will be published in a few weeks when the Heritage Minister publishes the estimates and report on plans and priorities. Normally the government announces the plans and priorities before the federal budget drops, but not this year. Our Special Budget Edition includes analysis of the decisions around the sector. Follow the links to learn more about the impacts on individual organizations and agencies.

We also have a special look at the cuts that are currently happening around the EU from Barbora Polachova, who is a student in the Czech Republic who worked for the CCA in the context of an internship project with the European Union. The Realities of the Economic Crisis in the EU – What are the Impacts for the Cultural Sector?

Imagine Canada has published a release discussing the impacts of the budget on registered charities. Changes announced in budget included new requirements for reporting political activity to increase transparency. The CCA will keep you informed of the impacts of the changes for charities as more information becomes available.

Featured Member

Every month, the CCA profiles a different member. Our featured member this month is Erika Beatty, Symphony Nova Scotia’s CEO, and recipient of the Canada Council for the Arts’ 2012 John Hobday Award in Arts Management (Mentorship). The award honours excellence in arts management with a $10,000 grant to allow the recipient to participate in professional development programs and be mentored by another arts administrator. “I can’t express how honoured, humbled, and excited I am,” says Erika.
